Wow! The plunging economy is plunging all my hopes about getting any major remodeling done. For those who are interested, the following three pictures are:

• the layout of the existing house
• what we hoped we might do (does not even fit into the page!). I knew this was unrealistic even as we drew it. But it was fun. We made many variations, including an upstairs!
  
• and what we are likely to do! - a slight pushing out of the south and east walls to add more space to the kitchen and family room.
